Key Services

  • Residential permit plan sets — PTI, interconnection and PTO as-builts
  • Commercial design 100 kW to 5 MW — roof, carport and ground mount
  • Structural & electrical PE stamps across all 50 states
  • Shading analysis, PVsyst yield studies and production modelling
  • Sales proposal drawings with financial analysis
  • Interconnection, SGIP, fire and EV charger permit applications
  • AHJ redline and revision turnaround, included

Business Benefits

Cut design overhead and submit faster without hiring draughtsmen. Insola scales with your pipeline — one plan set this week, forty next — so your team sells and installs while permitting moves in parallel.

The Problem

Design capacity is the bottleneck, not demand

Installers lose weeks to permitting, not to selling. An in-house draughtsman is a fixed cost against a pipeline that moves in waves, and every jurisdiction has its own rules about setbacks, labelling, conductor sizing and what a plan set must show. Insola absorbs that work.

Overhead

A fixed team against a variable pipeline

A full-time CAD designer costs the same in a slow month as a busy one — and cannot absorb a sudden forty-job week without a backlog.

Rework

Redlines that send you back a fortnight

A plan set rejected on fire setbacks or rapid-shutdown labelling restarts the clock with the AHJ. First-time-right is the only metric that matters.

Coverage

Stamps you cannot carry in-house

Structural and electrical PE review is required in most jurisdictions and licensed state by state. Keeping that network yourself is not practical below real scale.

Deliverables

Inside an Insola plan set

Every set is drawn against the adopted code cycle and the specific requirements of the authority having jurisdiction, then checked twice before it reaches you.

  1. PV-0

    Cover sheet

Project and site information, system summary, applicable codes, sheet index, vicinity map, parcel details and scope of work.

  2. PV-1

    Site plan

Property boundaries, existing electrical equipment, meter and disconnect locations, equipment placement, access paths, fire setbacks and conduit routing.

  3. PV-2

    Array layout

Module placement and array dimensions, setbacks, attachment spacing, roof obstructions and pathway compliance.

  4. PV-3

    Structural details

Mounting method, attachment details, point loads, racking specification and structural notes, with calculations where the jurisdiction requires them.

  5. PV-4

    Single-line & three-line diagrams

String configuration, conductor and overcurrent protection sizing, grounding and bonding, interconnection method and rapid-shutdown compliance.

  6. PV-5

    Labels & placards

Code-compliant signage and utility-required markings, placed and specified to the adopted cycle.

  7. PV-6

    Equipment specifications

Modules, inverters, optimisers, batteries, racking and monitoring — datasheets collated and referenced.

  8. PV-7

    Engineering documentation

Structural and electrical calculations, PE review coordination and stamped plans where the jurisdiction demands them.

How It Works

Four steps, two days

  1. 1

    Submit the job

Site address, utility, equipment list, a site survey or photographs, and the customer agreement. Upload through the portal or send by email — whichever suits your process.

  2. 2

    We draw it

A designer who knows that jurisdiction builds the set against the adopted code cycle, the utility’s interconnection rules and the AHJ’s own submission checklist.

  3. 3

    Two-stage QA

An automated rule check against our AHJ requirement database, then a human review by a senior designer. Nothing leaves on one pair of eyes.

  4. 4

    Delivered and supported

Stamped PDF and native CAD files returned in 24 to 48 hours. If the AHJ comes back with redlines, we turn the revision without a new charge.

Capability

Beyond the permit set

Residential

From proposal to PTO

Sales proposal drawings with financial analysis, permit sets for permission to install, engineering review, and as-builts for permission to operate — the whole paper trail on one desk.

Commercial

100 kW to 5 MW

Array layouts, mounting details, balance-of-system elevations, shading analysis and electrical single- and three-line diagrams across roof, carport and ground-mount racking.

Applications

Permitting and programmes

Interconnection applications, SGIP submissions, general and fire permit applications, post-installation letters, and EV charger permit sets with structural and electrical stamping.

Software we work in

Your file formats, your workflow

  • AutoCAD — native DWG
  • PVsyst — yield & loss modelling
  • Aurora Solar
  • HelioScope
  • Revit — BIM coordination
  • SketchUp
  • Bluebeam — markups & redlines

Deliverables are returned as stamped PDF plus editable native files, so your drawings remain yours.

Engagement

Priced per plan set, or by dedicated capacity

Per Project

Pay for what you submit

A fixed price per plan set by system type and size, quoted before the job starts. No minimum volume, no retainer. Revisions against AHJ comments are included.

Dedicated Capacity

A design team on subscription

A named designer or team reserved for your pipeline at a monthly rate, with agreed daily throughput and priority turnaround. Scales up on a month’s notice.

Zefficacy Price Protection

Twelve-month rate guarantee from signature, sixty days' notice on any change with penalty-free cancellation, and no onboarding, training or support fee — the same terms that apply across the Zefficacy portfolio.
